Ballad of The Lamplighters

[Kid]

Kid smiled as he awoke to another beautiful wasteland morning in Little Lamplight. Keeping the smile on his face as he climbed out of bed and washed himself off in the nearby river before trotting up to the "Mayor" for his daily duties. For most foals of Lamp-light, they were just told to run around and go wild until specific lessons, meetings, or something else important occured. However, still being fairly concerned with what he should do at Lamplight; Kid felt it necessary to ask the "mayor" what to do.

Today was no different from any other when the mayor face-hooved and told Kid to "Stop fuckin' asking me what to fuckin' do!"

Letting out a sigh as he looked at the mouth of the cave; he smiled as he got an idea. Kid had been meaning to head outside to see if he couldn't do some more trading...and maybe learn some more stories and jokes to tell to his new friends.

Stopping before he could gallop right out of the cave; Kid quickly turned around and headed to his room to grab some supplies. Just some basic things such as food, water, medicine. He also grabbed his prized SMG, some ammo, caps and other things to trade with, and some leather armor that one of his fellow lamp-lighters had given to him as a thank you for listening to helping them solve some problems they were having with another foal.

Adjusting his saddle bags to sit comfortably on his back, he hugged his friends goodbye before setting out to the awaiting wasteland.

[Celeste Everstar]

Calla ran.

There was a settlement up ahead, she new that, and she hoped it was a safehouse. New red bruises had blossomed on her legs and flank, where she had been hit multiple times with a stunning gun, but had dived out of the range of the bullets fired at her before being frozen. Now, she was far out of range, but there were ten raiders after her, and it wasn't looking too good for the explosives and magic specialist.

[Amber Flash]

Amber trotted along, never having visited this section of the wastelands before. She wore her hardened combat armour, never knowing exactly what sort of mutant beastie she would run into. Her sword was hung across her back, and a revolver strapped to her leg. She continued walking, whistling a merry tune, when she came across a cave. She contemplated going in, but only for a moment, before she began to walk into the maw of the cave.

[Brawny Hooves]

Brawny Hooves trotted the wastes like any other day. This play may have been a piece of crap, but it was much better than the Stables. Brawny was wearing some leather armor he bought from a traveling merchant and carrying a 10mm pistol and a baseball bat. Just in case he, and he always does, ran into trouble. Then he saw a mare running for her life. He sprinted towards her, looking to help her out.

In the distance, he could see at least 10 Raiders coming their way. Brawny loaded his pistol and shot at each of them. He killed 4 of them, and wounded the rest, giving the mare more time to escape. Brawny loaded his next clip, and finished them off.

"You're welcome, miss."

[Kid]

As Kid was trotting out the mouth of the cave; and not paying attention to where he was going. He bumped into a mare coming inside the cave. Quickly backing up, he looked up towards her giving the mare a gentle smile.

"Hiya, Lady!" Kid smiled towards the new mare that was coming in towards his home. "Whatcha' doin' coming down?"

[Celeste Everstar]

Calla drew her bow and aimed it at the green pony.

"Friend, or foe?" she snarled, backing up. When no answer came, she clicked a button, and the arrow was suddenly on fire.

"I asked you a question, mister," she said. "Answers are advised, lest you receive an arrow right between your eyes."

[Amber Flash]

Amber smiled warmly at the young one in front of her.

"Why, hello there. How are you? I',m just coming down here to explore. Maybe get some food an drink. And what are you doing going to a dangerous place like the wastelands?" She asked, concerned for the little one.

[Brawny Hooves]

Brawny stared at the mare, wide eyed, with a flaming arrow pointed at his head. How grateful she was. Just saved her life and gets threatened.

"Well, I intend to be your friend. But the arrow isn't exactly helping. I'm Brawny Hooves, by the way."

Brawny waited for her to lower her bow to extend his hoof for a friendly shake. This was a tough mare.

[Kid]

"Oh, i'm just heading out to go some trading!" Kid smiled as he shifted his head back to his saddlebags. "Seeing as how i'm the only one who can rub half a cap together, it's my duty to grease the wheels of commerce."

Kid then stopped abruptly looking as though he had just remembered something.

"Oh! If you're going down to Little Lamplight; you better let me escort you." Kid said quickly to the mare. "The others would less likely to gun ya down if I come with you."

Kid smiled up to the mare before, once again, abruptly turning around.

"POSSIBLE FRIENDLY MUNGO INCOMING!!!" Kid screamed down into the tunnel of the cave. "KEEP YOUR GUNS LOADED JUST INCASE THOUGH!!!"

Kid turned back to the mare and smiled warmly, extending a hoof towards her.

"My names Kid." Kid smiled as he kept his hoof extended. "and you?"

[Celeste Everstar]

Calla hesitated, but this pony seemed alright. There was always the knife strapped to her foreleg, just in case...

"Calla Lily, Calla, Cal, Lily, or Lil. I've been called them all. Fugitive mare intent on destroying the raiders."

She shook his hoof.

"I could have done it myself," she muttered. "Just trying to lure them to a blind spot, then I could have sent them all up in flames."

Her mane was tied out of her face with a leather cord, and she wore a belt with extra knives, grenades, a rope, and a backup gun, incase of emergency, with two cartridges. Dirt streaked her muzzle, but her eyes remained as clear and bright as ever.

"What's your reason for roaming the Wastelands? Most ponies I've met are travelers and tradesmen, but you don't seem the type."

[Amber Flash]

Amber looked down at Kid. "Fitting name you have. You can call me Amber." She said. "And I'm not going down to Lamplight. Not anymore anyways. Not going to let you wander the wastelands by yourself. Its always good to have a traveling buddy." Amber said, before taking Kid's hoof and shaking it.

[Brawny Hooves]

Brawny looked at the mare. Her name was Calla Lily, but had several nicknames. He'll just go with Lily. Very easy to remember. Plus, it's a pretty name.

"Well, sorry Lily for hogging the spotlight. I see a pony getting chased by raiders, my instinct is to help them out. The mare, of course. Not the Raiders. They suck."

"I'm like a scavenger. Although, I have no real home. I really just roam around the Wasteland, helping ponies out here and there. I don't really like staying in one place for too long. One of the reasons I hated Stable 101 so much..."

[Apple Orcherd]

Apple Orcherd wandered around the waste lands finding ponies just talking and things almost seemed peaceful. Apple wanted to laugh at that statement, but the fear of being killed because of it made her keep her mouth shut. Apple looked for somepony to talk to since she was out here.

Apple saw two ponies talking, they seemed friendly enough but if they weren't well, she still had her knife didn't she? Apple trotted up to them hoping not to scare them and get killed.

"Er hello."

Apple didn't know what else to say. She saw the mare bruised up which almost brought her to tears, but then she remember to stay with the task at hoof. Get friends, don't get killed She thought.

"My name's Apple Orcherd, you can call me Apple. So, what's your guys' names."

[Kid]

"Looks like I got the guards all riled up for nothing." Kid snickered as he smiled up at the mare. "You sure you want to come along with me?"

Kid looked at the mare, wondering why she seemed so quick to want to assist...although he decided not to question it. He didn't want to make the mare think that he didn't trust her. If she thought that, then she wouldn't trust him; and that would just end in more and more distrust. Not wanting that to happen, Kid just decided to give this mare the benefit of a doubt. If worst came to worst, Kid had his SMG and ammo. As well as his extremely light weight armor.

"I mean, i'm not exactly the best one in a fight." Kid admitted to Amber. "Not to mention, it probably wouldn't look good on you and your type to be seen carting a foal around the wasteland; it wouldn't look good. Unless you got paid for it, and I don't have the caps to hire a bodyguard."

[Celeste Everstar]

"A stable pony, huh?" she asked. You can blame my entire career on Stable 9. Faust, I hated that place. They tried to kill me, but no, I would not succumb! I am not that type of mare."

She sighed.

"The Stables can change a pony forever. Your Stable life sounded a lot more peaceful, however. Consider yourself lucky."

Calla drew a knife when the new mare approached.

"Friend or foe?" she asked, like always. Most raiders were stupid enough to pull a gun when she asked, and it was over in a moment.

[Brawny Hooves]

This mare seemed friendly enough. At least he wasn't dead yet. Most ponies would have shot him by now. Apparently she hated the Stables too, but she obviously had it worse. At least Brawny had a livable life down there. He just hated the place. It was SO boring! It was safe, though, somewhat. But there's always fun in danger, and hardly any fun in safety.

Brawny looked at Lily point a knife at another mare. Wow, she really was friendly. Guess it was smart, though. Don't know what kind of lunatics could be trotting around. But she didn't seem like she would even hurt a Bloatfly. He decided to be the nice guy in this situation

"Why, hello. Sorry about her being so... What's the word? Untrustworthy? Yeah, that works. I'm Brawny, by the way."

[Apple Orcherd]

"Hello, and it's OK. I would've same thing."

Apple looked at the knife for a moment. It wasn't in bad condition. She concentrated again.

"So, what are y'all talking about?"

She honestly didn't know what to do, she wasn't a very social pony. Heck, she doesn't even know how she became friends with with her friends.

Ugh... Stormy Bristle said, walking in the wastes. He was almost out of water, and he needed some more, fast.

Three minutes later, he had spotted a Lit cave. ... What's there? Bandits to kill...? He started to chuckle to himself. Starting to a full gallop, he pullied out his revolver with magic. Wait a second...

These weren't bandits. These were... Wait... A Kid? ... Uh oh... He thought, looking at his armor. He looked as if he were a bandit himself. Stormy Bristle froze in his place, not knowing what to do. He wasn't the brightest at this kind of thing, anyway.

He measured the distance... 10... 15 Meters? He just stayed silent, revolver still in telekinesis, standing in place.
